The Teacher Training Program will run from October 2016 through March of 2017. Students will have the opportunity to work closely with lead teachers and mentors throughout the course. In addition to the weekend intensives, students will meet between sessions with mentor groups to develop their home practice and teaching skills. By graduation, diligent students will be eligible to register with Yoga Alliance at the 200-hour RYT level and will have a practice they can take with them anywhere in the world. Successful completion will also qualify students for more advanced trainings with Colleen and Rodney, and potential opportunities to mentor in upcoming trainings.

Students will be assigned to mentor groups. Mentor groups will meet at least ten times over the course of the training, according to an explicit syllabus and schedule. The majority of mentor group meetings are done over the phone for convenience across locations.
Students will be required to complete the Gaia Yoga Foundations Course, as added experience with Colleen and Rodney's teaching as well as reinforcement to the Yoga Shanti teaching style, language and sequencing.
In addition to weekend and mentor sessions, students will be required to attend, observe, and eventually assist APPROVED public yoga classes. Homework will be assigned between sessions, and will include keeping a daily practice journal and completing writing assignments and required readings. Students will be expected to have a daily yoga practice and weekly group involvement. The bonds and community that develop among students and mentors are the backbone of this program.

Chakras are wheels of energy in the body that align from the base to the crown. They receive and express energy and also store our life experience that affect us physically, energetically and mentally. By practicing asana and meditation we can bring them into balance and joy into our every day living. In this workshop we will review the traits associated with the chakras, where they are located, and how the gunas (rajas, tamas, satva) affect them. Through asana practice we will work to strengthen and open the physical body, which also helps align the subtle body. We'll balance the vinyasa with some poses that will calm the nervous system. April will then guide you through a pranayama technique and then through a special meditation using bija mantras (seed sounds) and yantras (shapes) which will lead you back to your source of pure potential, the true state of yoga.
