What level of Yoga is appropriate for me?
For the true newcomer, the obvious would be the Level 1 class. Otherwise both the Level 2 and Level 2/3 classes are applicable to people with various levels of experience as modifications are always offered. Can I practice Yoga even if I'm not flexible? Of course. Many people are deluded to think they are not flexible. The fact is, our muscles and bones are living and recycling entities. This said, through consistent practice of the unique movements of Yoga, your body can change in a matter of weeks, dispelling all thoughts linked to physical and mental limitations.
What is the goal of Yoga? Yoga is a science and a philosophical practice that leverages mental and emotional balance through breath work as a means of manifesting physical and spiritual flexibility. Yoga, like it's sister meditation, can help cure serious disease in the body, prevent injury and shift overall life perspective in the most positive way. Is Yoga a religion? No. Yoga is a spiritually based practice that believes all beings, human and otherwise, are equally brilliant, spirited and worthy of all life has to offer. The only requirement of the practitioner is to lead a life abundant in love, compassion and acceptance of all God's creatures. |
